Unfilmed Reality. Mist Maps
The exhibition was conceived as a visual dialogue between two creators connected by Šiauliai city milieu and attitude to creation in the space of the Photography Museum while combining chemistry, physics and metaphysics.
This is physical realisation of ideas that emerged after long-lasting conversations while tuning up connecting devices, setting right frequencies and solving questions of external disturbances.
The interfering signals usually extend a discussion by contributing with unplanned themes and new ideas for future artworks…
The most important is to render the interplays of my internal condition and increasing pace of life through the image. The cycle of videography works “Unfilmed Reality.” is close to the field of avant-garde cinema and video art, but, at a closer glance, these are single pieces of photo graphics imprisoned in the loops of the flowing time.
~ Tomas Andrijauskas
The works are created on a film, photographic paper, while dredging chemical substances, physically affecting, using specially made blends. In such a way, abstract graphic images making up video loops are created. The author’s purpose is to immerse spectators through abstract images in subconscious states/ moods/ flows resembling those we experience every day when being satiated, engaged with screens of TV sets, mobile phones and other devices.
When taking a look at a map, I do not search for a path. On the contrary, I look for an opportunity to get lost.
~ Andrius Grigalaitis
I search for the places that have no coordinates, location between there and here.
The uncertainty turns imagination on; and new Worlds hiding beyond the sight open up through it. The Worlds that hide in millions of atoms of water floating in the air. The Worlds that are being born in the neural nexuses. The Worlds that send signals from the black depth of a cup of coffee.
The mist opens the gates to other different worlds, though existing nearby. You walk the same road, but actually you are not on that road, and everything that you can take from it are the emotional visual experiences inscribed in the matrix of a camera.
The mist. The covered banality of the mundane. A shallowed depth of one’s glance. Nobody knows what is in there, beyond the visible. One can only guess, but not be fully aware of it…
The mist. The erased road backwards. From the darkness to the light and back again.
Infinite, empty, absolute mist.
